I spent part of this afternoon watching one of my favorite classic sci-fi movies, The Day the Earth Stood Still
(1951). It’s message is clear, and I believe it’s much more relevant today than when it was first released back in 1951. The movie screams of 1950’s science ficition and sure, the plots got a few holes. But if you just suspend reality for a bit, you will never forget this movie. I know there is a remake coming out soon but I’m not interested. Mainstream Hollywood is too focused on special effects and this is not a special effects type of movie. Plus, the thought of Keanu Reeves playing Klaatu makes my stomach turn.
So if your inclined, check out The Day the Earth Stood Still. . . before current day Hollywood destroys another classic. (I hope I’m wrong)

Cool, I love the original classics also and agree with you on remaking this classic film. I did not realize you are a fan of classic Sci-fi. Cool. Netflix has a pretty good selection of Classic Scifi films including this one. I happen to catch, “The Time Machine” on TCM this weekend. Have you ever seen, “On the Beach”, “Failsafe”, “Dr. Strangelove”?
