I miss N. But not in a bad way, in a good way. N is my best friend even though he lives in Atlanta these days. N and I met several years ago on gay.com when he was living here in KC. We dated for quite a while but found out that we make much better friends than lovers. Two winters ago he packed his bags and headed to Atlanta for a job that he had been working towards for several years. I lost my best friend that winter and it was extremely hard on me, more than just a few tears were shed between the two of us.
Tonight, much to my surprise, I got a call from him. He said that he was at Phillips Arena in Atlanta waiting for Madonna to take the stage. I think he just wanted to rub it in! (evil bitch) We chatted for just a few minutes and then he said this: “I love you you know. You know I love you don’t you?” (It wasn’t the lover kind of “love” but the best friend kind) I don’t know how he does it, but he always manges to come through for me. I’ve been feeling kinda down lately (plus I’ve got a nasty cold) but hearing him say that brought a huge smile to my face. It just made my night. I miss you N.
The last time I saw N in person was last December when I went to visit him in Atlanta. Below is a pic of us at the Georgia Aquarium, which is awesome by the way. We look good together if I don’t mind saying so myself!

I spent part of this afternoon watching one of my favorite classic sci-fi movies, The Day the Earth Stood Still
(1951). It’s message is clear, and I believe it’s much more relevant today than when it was first released back in 1951. The movie screams of 1950’s science ficition and sure, the plots got a few holes. But if you just suspend reality for a bit, you will never forget this movie. I know there is a remake coming out soon but I’m not interested. Mainstream Hollywood is too focused on special effects and this is not a special effects type of movie. Plus, the thought of Keanu Reeves playing Klaatu makes my stomach turn.
So if your inclined, check out The Day the Earth Stood Still. . . before current day Hollywood destroys another classic. (I hope I’m wrong)

Was going though some old pictures tonight when I ran across this one. . . Of all the pictures I have of times gone by this is probably my favorite. Taken during the Summer of ‘91 at MGM Studios at the Disney World Complex in Florida. My partner G and S sitting atop the stairs on a New York City backdrop. It had been raining all day but we didn’t care. We had our Mickey Mouse rain ponchos to keep us dry and nothing was going to stop us from having fun on our vacation. And boy did we have fun!
I lost contact with G many years ago, and while that may be a good thing, I’ll never forget the times we spent together. Good and bad. I just wish I knew then, what I know now. Damn, I can be such a fool. Anyway, so here’s to June of ‘91 G and S! Pooh misses ya.

I’m very proud of the LGBT (and supporters) community of Kansas City today. Hundreds of people turned up at the Country Club Plaza to help others around the nation raise their voice in unison to support the right of Gay Marriage. The arguments against it are outdated, full of hate, and come from uneducated institutions. Marriage is not for everyone, but the right to get married should be equally given to all.
Sure, there were anti-gay, pro-hate protesters out today, but their ignorance was overshadowed by the joy, love, and unity of one simple demonstration.

Very proud of my bro. I wish I had half the strength he has. Below is a pic of him actually walking out of Rusk Rehab. Simply amazing as I think back to when I saw him on 9/6/08, just hours after the accident. Looking forward to the gathering at Thanksgiving later this month. I think my family has a lot to give thanks for.
I just hope all the other patients I saw and met there can soon do the same thing. Especially that one hottie I saw in the gym one day. . . hehe. . . Godspeed Rusk patients!

I voted today on my lunch break. I doubt a clear winner for president will be determined tonight but I might be surprised. 3 particular issues that I’m interested in:
1. President
2. Amendment 8 in California
3. Light Rail initiative in Kansas City
