City Market and Spring Rolls

For some strange reason I awoke this Saturday morning at 8:00am. I’m never awake that early on a Saturday. I guess not going out on Friday night and going to bed at a decent hour has its returns. lol None the less, since I was awake so early I did a couple loads of laundry and then headed out to the City Market to get my fruits and vegetables for the week.

I’ve been doing this every weekend for a couple months now and really enjoy shopping down there. Plus, I save a ton. The food is just as good and a hell of a lot cheaper than the grocery stores. I stocked up on cantaloupe, pineapple, cucumbers, celery, and a few other items and then headed over to the Chinatown Market.

The aroma that comes from the Chinatown Market as you enter the door is enough to knock you down. Holy shit that stinks! But, its the best place to get Asian food and ingredients in KC. I had decided that I wanted to make spring rolls this evening so I got some rice paper and a few other things including my favorite Hot and Spicy Cracker Nuts.

The rest of the day was spent hanging around the apartment, running a few errands and listening to some podcasts. Overall, a very relaxing day. And then this evening I made the spring rolls and they were delicious.

Its almost 9:00pm now and I’m trying to decide if I want to head out to Missie B’s, Sidekicks, or just say “fuck it” and stay in again. Saturday nights at the bars can be so damn expensive. Oh well, its early. I’ll figure that out later tonight.

Still Going

17 full days down of no smoking.  Today is 18 and I’ll make it, I know that without a doubt.

Day 12 Done

Wow, its now been 12 days since I’ve quit smoking. It really hasn’t been as hard this time but I do get the occasional strong PINGS that say. . . Gimme a fuck’n cig! NOW! But so far I’ve been able to get past it. Yes, I do have will power, more than I will admit to myself. And thats a good thing. So far I’ve estimated that I have saved over 35 bucks by not smoking. I’m liking that.

Still, I’m taking this one day at a time. . . one day at a time. . . one day. . . day 12 is over. . . . . . . will soon be time to fight day 13.  And i can do it. . .

No Cigs

So I have once again gone two full days without any cigarettes.  It hasn’t been that  bad  because I’ve had a little  bit of a cold and haven’t really felt like smoking any because of that.  I did this exact same thing last week, minus the cold, but ended up smoking on day 3.  Its usually the alcohol that sends me over the brink.  Actually, I thought about going out tonight but changed my mind because I knew I’d never make it through the evening without a smoke.  I’m not really having any withdrawl which is kind of strange but definitely a good thing.  This is mainly just about the fact that I really, really do like smoking.  I like everything about it.  Damit, why does it have to be so bad for you.  And why does it have to be so expensive.  Gotta keep focused and quit again.  No smoking tomorrow.

Project Runway – Conclusion

 Tonight I went over to A’s apartment so that we could watch the season finale of Project Runway. A got me hooked on this show a little over a month ago and I have really enjoyed it. We’ve been watching religiously each Wednesday and tonight was the climax. Before the show began A made dinner which turned out really good. I can’t remember what it was called but it was kinda like a zucchini omlett with lots of mozzarella cheese. Quite tasty. After we ate we got comfortable on the couch and turned on the TV. The episode was pretty good and Christian ended up winning. He deserved it although I was kind of wishing Jillian would win. Although to be honest, I really didn’t care who won since my two favorites were already kicked off, Ricky and Chris. And Ricky was hot, hot, hot! Well, at least I think so.

I think I’m going to Springfield this weekend to visit the parents and my friend M. I haven’t been down in a while so I really should go. I took Friday off work so that the trip wouldn’t fill up my entire weekend. I hate that, going to Springfield on the weekend makes me feel like I never got a weekend. Hopefully the extra day will remedy that. I’ve got a little bit of a cold so I’m hoping that will go away in the next day or so. I really don’t want to be driving long distance not feeling well. Thats not how I want to spend my weekend. If I don’t feel better by tomorrow night I will postpone for a day or maybe even a week.
